Barbara

Rhapsody is a professional vocal ensemble, brought together by our love of music and the enjoyment of sharing it with others. Our repertoire contains favorites from the 1920's all the way to the present.  Let us entertain you!

About Rhapsody

A native San Diegan Barbara started singing publicly after turning 60.  She sang with Sounds Divine before forming Rhapsody in 2009.  She has performed 3 years with the "Senior Follies".

During the 60's Barbara served with the Peace Corps in Kabul and Afghanistan.  For the next 30 years, she worked in social services and then in arts administration at the California Center for the Arts.

She feels that singing brought a new level of  joy to her life and others and plans to continue singing as long as she has a voice left in her!

Patti is a former “Alice in Wonderland” at Disneyland, Miss Fullerton, high school math and music teacher, and interior designer specializing in bed and breakfast inns.

Her musical background includes singing with the Kids of the Kingdom at Disneyland, singing with Sweet Adelines barbershop group, RB Chorale, coaching a song and dance troupe, playing piano and guitar, competitive ballroom dancing, choreographer for various groups, and participating in the Senior Follies in San Diego.

A favorite hobby is writing musical parodies.

A native of Wisconsin, but a Californian since 1975, Mary has sung in various groups for the past 22 years. Included in those groups are several small ensembles as well as church choirs ranging in size from 20-300+.

She is a founding member of "Rhapsody" and has also enjoyed performing in CCT's Senior Follies for the past 3 years.

You could say Elvis is still alive and well…in Danny’s soul.

He started singing and directing music in his fathers’ churches in the mid-sixties, and then put himself through College on a vocal scholarship at California Baptist College, Riverside, Ca.

He has sung for many churches and performed many private shows in North County and all over San Diego, Ca. Danny loves being a part of Rhapsody and singing with his church choir at Emmanuel Faith Community Church.

Danny

Currently he is co-director of the “Thursday Songsters”, a men’s A cappella chorus and the music director of "Rhapsody".

Debra

Arlene

Enjoys playing tennis, quilting, design, gardening, landscaping and most of all singing.

She has performed at many well known venues throughout Southern California and even performed with two other choirs, singing "Faure' Requiem" at Carnegie Hall.

Debra has had the pleasure of singing with The Festival Singers in Orange County, in San Diego for the Rancho Bernardo Chorale, Sounds Divine, and Odyssey before joining Rhapsody.

She is one of Rhapsody's founding members.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. started singing before she could talk!  She sang in choir and musicals at Penn Hills High School and sang in a band that toured local venues in her teens.  She is proud of her Greek heritage. Arlene also sang at the Greek Orthodox Church in Oakmont, PA where she discovered she had been blessed with the gift of singing.

Arlene moved to San Diego in 1975 and in the early 1980’s sang with the San Diego Master Chorale.  She directed youth choirs at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church for 7 years. Arlene currently sings in the choir at Grace Presbyterian Church. Singing and music, the good Lord and her two beautiful children fill her life with incredible joy.  Rhapsody is her singing family and she cannot imagine how empty her life would be without them!

Jaquie

At 4, a giant rock in her backyard was her stage. This budding prima donna spent hours bellowing out adlib (and nonsensical) lyrics to her audience, which included, other rocks, sage brush and nearby mountain tops.  Jaquie sang in church and school choirs beginning in 4th grade and continued through college, where it culminated with the meeting of her husband. She was honored to play his leading lady in the musical, “Annie Get Your Gun”.

As an elementary teacher for 47 years, she found great joy in directing many children’s musicals.

She was privileged to share 5 seasons with CCT Follies, and now loves being a part of this fabulous family called “Rhapsody.”

Chet

Has enjoyed singing since performing with her sister and neighbor as the "Supremes" for family and friends as a child.  She continued to perform  in high school and at the University of Maryland.

After graduation, she pursued a career with the Department of Defense as a test engineer and took a five year hiatus from public performing.  In 1990, she realized how much she missed "hamming it up" and joined the RB Chorale. Her desire to sing in a small vocal ensemble led her to perform with Sounds Divine and Odyssey before joining Rhapsody as one of its founding members.

Started singing when he was 5 years old in church. Someday he is going to learn how to read music. He comes from a very musical family.

In high school he performed in the “Music Man” with “Meridith Wilson” at the “Hollywood Bowl”. He has been the President of the “Rancho Bernardo Chorale” for 3 years and a member for 14 years.

Performed in the “Senior Follies” for 3 years…..Joined “Rhapsody” 2 years ago and has enjoyed the positive growth of the ensemble ever since. He says it 's a family affair.

I sang for years alone, then one year my shell broke, thanks to a push from a friend, my wife Nancy, support from my daughter Rachel and of course Mom.

I started with Karaoke and went on to sing with “Sounds Divine” of San Diego for 4 years as one of their Tenors.  I will never forget recording with them, in studio, with Alan Paul of “Manhattan Transfer” directing…he is an amazing artist and down to earth nice person. I love to sing for the people.

I started with Rhapsody in 2010 and love the fact that we all just have fun doing what we love, singing and entertaining. We love to get an active audience Flippin, Floppin, & Flyin!

Alice

In Chicago, I had an 18 year career as an actress /singer in musical theatre and revues and appeared in over 100 television commercials.  I also wrote scripts for live presentations for clients such as Kellogg’s and Kraft Foods.

When we moved to San Diego I sang with the San Diego Master Chorale and the SD Symphony. I helped write and present an interactive school outreach program entitled “The History of Choral Music”, which my colleagues and I have presented to over 7,000 3rd and 4th graders.

I’m ecstatic to now be singing with Rhapsody!  I love the people, the repertoire and the mellow harmony we make.

Kent

Music has been a part of Kent's life since childhood.  His early background was primarily instrumental - piano, trumpet, string bass, guitar and electric bass guitar among others.  He even played the bagpipes in his high school band.

He sang in church choir and plays in high school, but his serious interest in singing came late in life.  He was the baritone in a barbershop quartet, was the baritone section leader in the Sun Harbor Chorus and sang with Sounds Divine in San Diego.

In addition to Rhapsody he is a member of the Masters of Harmony - an international champion chorus that has performed all over the country, including with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and at the Disney Theater in Los Angeles.
